How our commitments change, and how they can't.
Anything we publish as a commitment — our games content policy, the work we take on, and anything we promise later about pricing, privacy, accessibility or licensing — is governed by the four rules on this page.
The short version: nothing here can be quietly removed. Wording can be corrected, and the old wording stays visible underneath. Most companies' values pages can be rewritten overnight with nobody the wiser, which is why almost nobody believes them.

We review this once a year
Not to change it. To ask whether we've learned something that should have been said. A policy that hasn't changed passes its review, gets re-dated, and is left alone.
Nothing here is ever removed
If a commitment turns out to be inconvenient, that is not a reason to lose it. That is the situation it was written for.
We may fix wording; the history stays visible
Sometimes a sentence catches something it was never meant to catch. That's a drafting error, not a change of mind, and we'll correct it — but the old wording stays in the changelog below, never replaced. This is what keeps rule 2 honest.
We don't change the rules while a decision is waiting on them
The decision in front of us is made under the rules as they already are. Only once it's settled do we reconsider the rules — because the moment you most want a rule to say something different is the worst moment to judge whether it's right.
What this amounts to
A ratchet with an honest repair mechanism. Commitments can only tighten. Correction stays possible where the wording was genuinely wrong, and correction can't be used to hide anything, because the record is on the page.
Changelog
Two kinds of entry, kept apart because they mean different things. An addition shows something was learned. A clarification shows a drafting error was found and owned.
